A Touch of the Wild

Walking tour of Moon Shadow Lodge, an Adirondack B&B remodel of an 1800's barn, trout fishery, beaver lodge. Lunch at the famous Stony Creek Inn for a little local history. Learn how to build a training relationship with your horse with hands on experience at Wolf Pond Stables.

ADIRONDACK FOOTHILLS TOURS

The Adirondack Foothills Tours are conducted on Saturdays from July 17 through August 21, 2010.

Forest, Farm and Country Fixin’s Escape originate at the pavilion at 815 New York State route 418 at
Thurman Station, also referred to as Thurman Siding.
They depart at 10:35 a.m. and return at 2:30 p.m.

A Touch of the Wild excursion departs from 1000 Acres Ranch Resort at 465 Warrensburg Road, Stony Creek.
It departs at 10:25 a.m. and returns at 3:15 p.m.

You may travel to your tour’s departure site aboard the Corinth-to-Thurman coach of the Upper Hudson River Railroad, www.uhrr.com or via your own private vehicle.

You must reserve ahead to be sure you will have a seat on the van and a meal at lunchtime.
Your price for these tours includes van transportation, visits to the sites described, your meal and all taxes and gratuities.

FIND THE ADIRONDACK FOOTHILLS TOUR DEPARTURE SITES:

BY CAR:

Thurman Station/Thurman Siding
From Adirondack Northway (I-87) Exit 23 (Warrensburg, NY) proceed west less than half a mile to NYS route 9 and bear right to travel north. Drive to the second traffic light at the intersection of route 9 and NYS route 418. Turn left on route 418 and follow it across the river, where it hooks sharply to the right and follows the river. After about three miles, it recrosses the river into Thurman, then crosses the railroad tracks and hooks sharply to the left, running parallel to the tracks. In about a quarter of a mile turn left into the parking lot at the pavilion. The trip is about 4.5 miles. Allow about twenty minutes. The vans cannot wait for late passengers.

1000 Acres Ranch Resort
From Adirondack Northway (I-87) Exit 23 (Warrensburg, NY) follow the directions to Thurman Station/Thurman Siding, but continue on approximately 5 miles further (NYS route 418 becomes designated at “Stony Creek Road”), finding 1000 Acres Ranch Resort on your left. Allow about thirty minutes for the trip twelve mile trip from Exit 23. Vans cannot wait for late passengers.

BY RAIL:
Board the Upper Hudson River Railroad at South Corinth at 8:45 a.m. or at Rockwell (Hadley) at 9:15. You will return in the p.m. Purchase tickets on our site or aboard the train.


Enjoy a tour to Martin’s Certified Tree Farm (sawmill, craft demos; sustainable forestry woods walks, talks). Tour Nettle Meadow Farm, where goats supply a nationally known cheese-making facility. A Country Fixin’s lunch awaits you at The Glen Lodge B&B and their gift shop and gardens will fill your spare moments.
